The Differences between Jesus Christ and Isa the Son of Maryam, with Full Evidence

Has it ever occurred to any of you that Jesus and Isa are two completely different characters?
Here are some evidence:
1- The name:
a) The pronunciation of the name:
His name is Isa in the Qur’an – Surat Al-Imran (Family of Imran) 45: “when the angels said, “O Maryam, indeed Allah gives you good tidings of a word from Him, whose name will be the Messiah, Isa, the son of Maryam – distinguished in this world and the Hereafter and among those brought near [to Allah].”
While in the Gospel, which was written hundreds of years before the Quran,
Matthew 1:21 “And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call His name JESUS: for He shall save His people from their sins.”
Muslim scholars justify this deliberate distortion of the name by saying that the name “Jesus” in Greek is “Iesus”, and in Arabic they made it “Issos”, which has become “Isa” to rhyme with “Mosa” (Moses), and thus they had changed it from “Jesus” to “Isa”. However, this justification is weak since Arabic derives its terms from Hebrew, Aramaic or Syriac and has never derived its terms from Greek, also “Isa” and “Iesus” do not have a common root.
There is another type of Muslim scholars who were more explicit in their hatred of the name of Jesus Christ, saying: “The Jews named Him Esau after the son of Isaac who sold his birthright to Jacob, and he is considered the despised son who did not get his father’s blessing in the Old Testament.”; so these Islamic scholars claim that Isa is like Esau. Also, this justification lacks historical evidence, as the name Jesus in Hebrew is Joshua (Jehovah Shua), meaning “God saves” [the Savior], and there isn’t any single Jewish reference that gave the name Esau to Jesus.
b ) The narrow understanding of the name:
Going back to Surat Al-Imran (Family of Imran): “O Maryam, indeed Allah gives you good tidings of a word from Him, whose name will be the Messiah”
The Islamic understanding of “Christ (Messiah)” is that it is the name, but in fact, it is the title. These fundamental differences help us understand the many historical errors which the Qur’an committed, including the name of Christ.
c) The weakness of the annunciation:
In the Qur’an, when the angel Gabriel appeared to Maryam and said to her: “O Maryam, indeed Allah gives you good tidings of a word from Him, whose name will be the Messiah, Isa, the son of Maryam”
Why did he say to her: “The son of Maryam” as long as he is delivering the news to her personally, it would be enough for the angel to say: “… gives you good tidings of a word from Him, whose name will be Isa”?
For example: Your name is “Hassan” and I address you saying: “May God grant you a son named Muhannad the son of Hassan”, while it would be enough to say: “May God grant you a son named Muhannad.”
Here we understand that the writer of the Qur’an had deliberately distorted the name of Jesus and made Him the son of a woman, in order to be called “the son of Maryam”, as the Arabs do not use the names of their mothers unless they want to demean someone, so they call him: “O son of this or that woman”
2- The meaning of the name Isa:
Muslims claim that they have honored Isa more than Christians, so let us read some evidence of that alleged honoring:
In Al-Raghib Al-Isfahani, page (596) of the fourth edition of Dar Al-Qalam, he says:
“Isa” is a proper noun, in Arabic they say:
The camel is “A’ayas”, the feminine “A’aysaa” and the plural is “Aeiss”, which means a camel of a white color with a slight darkness (so Isa is a name used to refer to animals). It is also derived from “Iss” which means the stallion’s semen.
Here it becomes clear the intentional insult to Jesus Christ by distorting His name and making it a name that refers to dirty words or to animals.
While the true meaning of the name Jesus (Yesua),
Matthew 1:21 “And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call His name JESUS: for He shall save His people from their sins.”
So, “Jesus” (Yesua) means “the Savior” because He saves the people from the sins. Changing the name intended to disannul the meaning of salvation to help them abolish the value of Jesus Christ and make Him a prophet like Muhammad.
The Islamic scholars claim that the Qur’an does not accept foreign terms, and that their forefathers used to convert any foreign name into Arabic to make it easier to understand, so they turned “Jesus” into “Isa”. But the Qur’an itself reveals their deception and prevarication, as there are countless foreign names in the Qur’an (Alyasa (Elisha), Jibreel (Gabriel), Michael, Ād, Aram, Lot, Isaac, Taloot, Goliath, the Magians, Harut, and Marut) All of them are non-Arabic names, yet they were kept the same, and this is an additional evidence that the distortion of the name of Jesus, by changing it to Isa, was done only to insult His holy name.
3- The difference between the “Virgin Mary” and “Maryam” the mother of Isa:
a.
Geographical error:
It is stated in the Qur’an about Maryam giving birth: “The labor-pains drove her to the trunk of the date palm tree.”
We know very well that Palestine is a coastal area, not a desert, so how would there be date palm trees two thousand years ago?
This is the first geographical and scientific mistake, as the coastal region is famous for its citrus, but for hundreds of years Muslims have been trying to make the reality match the Qur’an in order to prove the authenticity of what is written in it. So they made Palestine planted with date palms in order to prove the claim of their Qur’an that the Virgin had leaned on a date palm tree. Add to that, this science fiction plot which makes a weak nine-month pregnant woman strong enough to shake the trunk of a date palm tree, with her bare hand, to eat from it.
Note: For those who may be confused by it, the Holy Bible has mentioned the palm fronds (branches), not the date palm trees. The palm trees are short ornamental trees that grow in the desert and non-desert areas, and this made the Islamic scholars try to mix up date palm trees with palms in order to patch up the error of the Qur’anic verse, but they have failed because palms do not bare dates.
B. historical error:
The author of the Qur’an says in Surat Maryam:
“Then she came to her people, carrying him. They said, “O Maryam, you have done something terrible. O sister of Aaron! Your father was not an indecent man, and your mother was not unchaste.”
Now we realize that the Qur’an is talking about the daughter of Imran/Amram and the sister of Aaron, and not about the Virgin Mary who is the daughter of Heli (or as they also call him “Joachim”), and who has no brothers.
Here we understand how the author of the Qur’an confuses two stories, one of which preceded the other by 1500 years, as we find the true story in the Torah:
Exodus 6:20 “And Amram took him Jochebed his father’s sister to wife; and she bare him Aaron and Moses: and the years of the life of Amram were an hundred and thirty and seven years.”
And in Numbers 26:59 “And the name of Amram’s wife was Jochebed, the daughter of Levi, whom her mother bare to Levi in Egypt: and she bare unto Amram Aaron and Moses, and Miriam their sister.”
The Islamic scholars also try in vain to patch up the word “Aaron’s sister”, so they say: “It is a figurative meaning only, which the Jews used at that time in order to refer to someone positively or negatively, so they said, “Sister of Aaron” to compare her to him.” This statement is not correct neither linguistically nor historically, as both the Jews and us use the term “the son of this or that man” when we want to refer to someone positively or negatively. We say, for example, that “we are the sons of Abraham”, but we do not say that “we are Abraham’s brothers”; as we also say, “O sons of Aaron.” It is not correct to say, “O brothers of Aaron.”
And if we want to disregard the term “Aaron’s sister”, the Muslim scholars still have another unresolved dilemma, which is: “How did they make Mary the daughter of Imran/Amram, who lived on earth more than 1500 years before her?”
There is also another thing which proves that the writer of the Qur’an was confused by the Virgin Mary and Miriam/Maryam the sister of Moses and Aaron, as he says in the Qur’an: “So she conceived him, and withdrew with him to a remote place. The labor-pains drove her to the trunk of the date palm tree. She said, “I wish I had died before this, and been completely forgotten.”
And as it is known in the Holy Bible, the Virgin Mary had lawfully and legally married, in front of people, to Joseph the Carpenter, when the angel told him:
Matthew 1:20 “Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife:”
There is no single reason for her to feel ashamed when Jesus was born, since both Joseph and she knew that He is the Son of the Highest, and in principle the people knew that Joseph, her husband, has married her and that she is in his house.
In order to understand from where the author of the Qur’an came up with the story of Mary’s shame, we have to go back to the era of Miriam, the daughter of Amram in the Torah-Book of Numbers 12:1 (under the title Miriam and Aaron criticizing Moses) “And Miriam and Aaron spake against Moses because of the Ethiopian woman whom he had married: for he had married an Ethiopian woman.”
And Miriam was mocking Moses: “9- And the anger of the LORD was kindled against them; and He departed.
10- And the cloud departed from off the tabernacle; and, behold, Miriam became leprous, white as snow: and Aaron looked upon Miriam, and, behold, she was leprous.”
Miriam was afflicted with leprosy, which was, in the Old Testament, a symbol of curse and impurity, therefore they used to isolate the leper outside the tribe.
Numbers 12 “11- And Aaron said unto Moses, Alas, my lord, I beseech thee, lay not the sin upon us, wherein we have done foolishly, and wherein we have sinned.
12- Let her not be as one dead, of whom the flesh is half consumed when he cometh out of his mother’s womb.
13- And Moses cried unto the LORD, saying, Heal her now, O God, I beseech thee.
14- And the LORD said unto Moses, If her father had but spit in her face, should she not be ashamed seven days? let her be shut out from the camp seven days, and after that let her be received in again.”
And here we can understand how the author of the Qur’an got confused, so he thought that Mary, the mother of Jesus, was the one who was ashamed in front of her people and therefore she had to “withdraw to a remote place” in the desert. This also justifies the presence of palms and dates, because Miriam, the sister of Moses and Aaron, was in the Sinai desert feeling ashamed because she was afflicted with leprosy.
4- Isa’s childhood is different from Jesus’:
It was stated in the Qur’an that Isa spoke as an infant in the crib, but if we search in the Gospel, which has mentioned many miracles of the LORD Jesus Christ, we find that it has never mentioned that Jesus spoke in the crib. Rather, the Gospel mentions that Jesus’ childhood was like other children, and the evidence for that is abundant, including when He was lost at the age of 12 and both Mary and Joseph had searched for Him for three days, then found Him in the temple arguing with the teachers and priests, and when Mary asked Him
Luke 2:48 “…Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us?”
He answered: “49- … wist ye not that I must be about my Father’s business?”
“51- … but His mother kept all these sayings in her heart.”
Had He spoken from the crib, she would have known from Him what He was going to do and what His message was.
5- Isa’s old age:
In the Qur’an, Surat Al-Ma’idah (The Table) 110 “Then Allah will say, “O Isa, son of Maryam! Remember My favor upon you, and upon your mother, how I supported you with the Holy Spirit. You spoke to the people from the crib, and as an elderly.”
I have mentioned earlier that the LORD Jesus did not speak in the crib, and when He ascended to the heaven He was still a young man at the age of 33, so He was never “an elderly”.
The Islamic scholars tried to patch up the word “elderly” saying that the old age starts from 30. The rest of the world’s languages have exposed them, as no other language, except for the Arabic, has considered 30 years old to be an age of the elderly, but they rather said that the old age starts from 50. This has led many Western authors to write that the Arabs are making things up and changing the meanings of their language in order to prove the authenticity of the Qur’an, and not to give the accurate meanings.
6- The miracles of Isa:
According to the Qur’an: “when you would mold from clay the shape of a bird, by My permission, and you would breathe into it, and it would become a bird, by My permission.”
The Gospel did not mention such a miracle of Jesus Christ, and when I searched to find out who has created the bird, I found that a Greek book titled “The Gospel of Thomas the Israelite” had talked about Jesus, as its writer had imagined Him, saying: “This little child, Jesus, when He was five years old was playing at the ford of a brook: and He gathered together the waters that flowed…. And having made soft clay, He fashioned thereof twelve sparrows. And it was the Sabbath.” Since it is forbidden for the Jews to do any kind of work on the Sabbath, they went off immediately and complained to His mother so she would come and see what Her son was doing on the Sabbath, that’s when Jesus held the sparrows in front of them and started to blow on them, so they immediately became alive and flew away.
This Greek book, which was translated into Coptic, has been translated later into the Arabic. When I thought about the story that was told by the Prophet of Islam Muhammad, it occurred to me that, as long as this book is Coptic so maybe Maria the Coptic had told Prophet Muhammad about the story of the bird mentioned in it, and afterwards this story was translated into Arabic and had been attributed to the LORD Jesus Christ as one of His miracles.

To cover up the deliberate abuse of Jesus’ name by changing it to Isa, Muslims say that the Qur’an has honored Isa more than Muhammad, as he was mentioned 25 times in the Qur’an while Muhammad was mentioned only 4 times.
The answer is quite simple, if you search for the name of “Satan” in the Qur’an, you will find that it was mentioned 88 times. Does repeating the name more times indicate honoring and respecting it?
So repeating a name has nothing to do with respecting and honoring the mentioned person.

The Qur’an has also denied the crucifixion and the redemption in order to complete the deletion of the meaning of “Savior” from the name of Jesus.
Muslims also try to mix up the concepts in an earthly human way, claiming that the Qur’an has honored Isa by raising him directly to the heaven without subjecting him to crucifixion, nor to humiliation and beating, whereas Christians have accepted that He should be crucified and beaten.
And the response here is with a question: “Who do you think is worth following, the prophet who abandons his people in the time of distress, or the one who dies for them?”
The idea presented by the writer of the Qur’an that Christ ran away at his crucifixion and cast his likeness on someone else, is just another attempt to diminish the importance of Christ. Add to that, the Qur’an itself says that Christ has died:
Surat Maryam: “And Peace is upon me the day I was born, and the day I die, and the Day I get resurrected alive.”
Muslims also twisted the meaning of this verse, interpreting it as that Christ will come back, die and rise again. Does it make sense that Christ has disappeared in flesh for 2000 years, just to come back again and die?
You are free to believe whatever you want, but in my opinion this story is neither logic nor convincing.

The most important question is: Why do Muslims accept to offend other religions in a way that they do not accept for theirs?
For example, if the Chinese printed a book in which they preach about a prophet called “Mido”, who was born in China, but when his family rejected him, he went to Japan. Among the miracles of the prophet “Mido” is that his mother “Amo” gave birth to him four years after the death of his father. Then they continue saying: “The prophet “Mido” rode on a winged horse, flew to the moon and split it in two.”
Would this distortion please you as a Muslim?
Would you justify for them if they say that they love Muhammad more than you do?
Or will you object to this distortion of the prophet and the Qur’an (even if the sayings are somehow similar, but the name, the mother’s name and the events mentioned are all different), and consider that they have no right to change things, for they should either accept them all as they are or reject them?

All of the foregoing differences explain why the author of the Qur’an intended to change the name of Jesus to Isa, and all the aforesaid explains also why we, as Christians, should reject the name of Isa.
Besides, the power of the name of the Savior Jesus, makes us adhere to this name no matter how Satan tries to distort it in various languages:
Acts 4:12 “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”
Once a Muslim asked me: “Is Isa able to save us?”
I answered him very clearly: “Isa can’t even redeem himself, as he is like anyone else on earth, only Jesus Christ is the Savior. So when I pray to our LORD and ask Him, with faith, in the name of the LORD Jesus Christ, the LORD God answers. The name of Jesus Christ does not fail before the throne of God the Father.”
John 14 “13- And whatsoever ye shall ask in My name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
14- If ye shall ask any thing in My name, I will do it.”
John 16:23 “Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in My name, He will give it you.”
This is a challenge that I have raised before and I repeat it today, whatever your religion is, ask with faith in the name of Jesus Christ to be healed or given the desires of your heart, and you will know the power of the name of Jesus Christ.
Any other name, whatsoever, cannot deliver, or save, or respond, or intercede, nor has it the power like the name of Jesus, and accordingly the name cannot be changed.

In the end, it is quite clear, after all the proofs and evidence which I have presented, that Isa in the Qur’an is a completely different person from Jesus Christ. Rather, this “Isa”, who created the bird, spoke when he was an infant, the son of Maryam and the grandson of Imran, is a fictitious figure that does not exist except in the Qur’an.
